Some cabinet shops do use 7-1/4" blades, mainly for ripping 1/2" baltic birch ply for drawers. But they are most definitely not using $5 diablo blades, more like Forrest or CMT

You are not making a better cut with a $5 throw away blade than you would be with a proper 10" blade. Thats not even remotely close to being debatable.

As a follow up. Area of a circle is pi x R(sq) a 7.25" blade is about 41. A 10" is about 79 and is about twice as thick so 79 * 2 = 158. 158/41 means that you are spinning a mass 4 times...
