This can be solved by using a Dremel tool to cut out the fan grill and replace it with a low-resistance metal grill with a higher CFM fan. I've done this dozens of times. It's fun and it works.

If you want a Synology deal, you probably should look at a Synology. Yes, XPnology, etc., but - for reliable, stable drive use for a few years, a simple, $550 920+ is hard to beat.
