Keep in mind that it's not the same processor. The macbook air i7 runs at 1.1 GHz vs 2.3 for the pro. That's a big difference in terms of performance...

Aside from monitoring the temps that routinely ran in the 70s, the keyboard would feel hot to the touch. Hated it and returned it. MBP runs cool and I wouldn’t recommend the Air to anyone.

The i7 in the macbook air is a waste though, the cooling in the macbook air doesnt allow the end user to take advantage of the additional speed. i5 would be better imho.
