HDD manufacturers have been struggling to densify the disk platter and even use shady techniques such as SMR which is incompatible with FreeBSD/Linux's ZFS format. In a few years, chips will catch up...

If it's already got an SSD, chances are you won't see any real world difference unless this is some really low end SSD without DRAM. The only reason to upgrade would be for capacity at that...

I would just not buy any SSD and instead put that money in to a new PC fund if you can't afford it now. The benefits of upgrading 12 year old components will outweigh the benefits of this SSD.

True fact. However, an adapter is available, haven’t received the drive and purchase the adapter for it, so this deal is very attractive.

Looks like the 870 series extends the TBW to 720 on the 2TB model and also adds DRAM cache to all sizes (1tb-8tb). I think it's probably just a spec bump compared to the 860 QVO.

It is faster. But make sure the motherboard takes an NVME drive. Some.mother boards offer 2 NVMEdrive but expect the price of that to be higher as well. It's whatever fits your budget kind of thing.
