It's enameled steel and fine for making pasta or heating up soups. I wouldn't do sauces or stews in it though, it will scorch.

That pot should not be thought of as expensive. It is a low quality budget product made for, not by, a high end cookware manufacturer.

It would be too heavy if the Stockpot was cast iron. This is perfect as it matched the rest of my wife's set. Now the rest of the set is cast iron.
