Mines did the same, you have to make sure everything is up to date. Then up date the Radeon card from the Radeon website(the drivers) .

It's unlikely to be the CPU. Possible but that's very easy to test with a cpu stress test.

I hear ya..but from what I know about AMD these days, def could be Ryzen + GPU + RAM...any combo. Going back to Intel...haven't built since early 2010s, but AMD is still not my cup of tea

Random restarts are pretty difficult to trouble shoot. Could be just about anything so returning is a good idea but it's unlikely to be a compatibility issue, I mean if this were pre-2000 than yeah...
