Like I said, you need the hub (it's not really a hub, the Connect) to use the device away from home. Someone earlier said the connect isn't needed but it is if remote is important

Highly recommend this model. I’ve had it over a year. You definitely want one that is Bluetooth and wifi. If power goes out WiFi obviously won’t work, but Bluetooth works with app.

Same reasons why I love it and hate it...very convenient Auto Unlock feature, but I have so many issues with the signal to my August Connect. I tried everything but got annoyed and sold the Connect.

Again, Connect IS NOT NEEDED to use it away from home. That's why people wanted z-wave in the lock - to use their existing z-wave infrastructure which is often accessible remotely. This is not hard...
