Practical? No. Too big / bulky / cumbersome. You can easily find a better desk light for a few bucks at any thrift store.

That was little larger at 12" and came with a real tripod instead of the puny thing this has. Not sure that justifies additional $8, but for some that might be worth the cost.

I've got this. The tripod isn't great and I wish it was telescopic. Good for desks that have space for the tripod or if you can screw it on to some sort of clamp or flexible mount.

Got mine yesterday. I will be returning it. The tripod is really flimsy and the legs slide out with any jostling of the phone while on the stand (I.e. volume control, tapping buttons)

Not really practical. I bought one of the led desk lamps and use it as a meeting light for video as well as a general light. Just make sure the head is adjustable.

I bought one of these six months ago. If you buy it turn it on in a dark room and watch for flickering. I didn't notice it during the day but at night it's terribly obvious and probably isn't healthy.

I have a similar $15 one from amazon deal here maybe a month ago and it shuts off after about 30min but well worth the $15. You can click it back on but then clicks off every 5min. Simular item.

There is an inline remote for the light on the cord. This can not control the phone at all if that is what you are asking.
