I found the problem the r7 that comes out to under 600$ seems not available. Base price was 734$. The one now come up as 779$ so it goes over 600$ with the save17 code

R7 is no longer available. But on the bright side coupon "save17" works with other products also. And you can also get this laptop with Intel CPU. For about similar price.

I spoke with the Dell representative also regarding the R7 one and he said 300 nits also they said you can return within 30 days no restocking fee but condition must be same as new.

I believe it's plastic. All metal at this price point would be pretty surprising, especially considering it's a Dell. Nevertheless, Dell's plastics are usually pretty darn sturdy.

There is no 250 nit variant... all you've observed is the natural variations and increases in light that you detect. The official panels for this version are 220 nit and 300 nit in the non touch...

Yes, but since you are replacing both modules you can go with lower CAS latency. I got one additional 8GB CAS 22 TeamGroup module and it works fine.

Ditto about the Dell customer service and I work for a Dell company lol. Several reps said "300 nits" and no one so far has received that display yet on any of the Ryzen Inspiron 5000 models.
