Red or This If you power on/off the system the cameras are recorded to frequently (daily for example) then Red would be better than these. The biggest caveat to these particular drives (Purple)...

suitable yes, however surveillance drives are tuned to prioritize writes so the performance curve is slightly different

I do not recommend. Normal drives spend more time on data integrity check than these drives. It is built for a purpose.

Got two 3TB Purples in my Dahua NVR that have been with me through three NVRs now. After 5-6 years of 24/7 recording 9 4MP cameras they’re still running strong.
