FWIW ... Most (soon to be all) of my light & fan switches are GE brand. Have been for several years. I had one fail (1st Gen version.) Edit: All of my 1st gen switches have now failed.

It's not about knowing how to replace it. The pain is in cutting the power, unscrewing everything, making sure wires are connected properly, fitting everything back in place, etc. It's a hassle.

Just fyi, these (the non-dimmers) do work well with a variety of fans (as a simple on/off--they obviously won't change the speed of the fan)--some of the zooz/inovelli/etc are not suitable for fans...
