You can also use clover by booting to clover which loads an efi emulator that can boot off nvme. Afaik clover was originally made for OSX on Hackintoshes but it works for booting off NVMe drives on...

Be careful though if you have other drives using the sata ports.
Some motherboard will disable the sata ports if the nvme (what the m.2 uses) is in use. So you wont be able to use both sata port...
