5-8lb is ridiculous for a "backpacking" tent. For $80 not sure what else is out there though. If it's quality, seems like a good deal for a car camping tent.

The NTK tent has fiberglass poles and polyester fabric. Those are much cheaper, inferior materials. The NTK tent is not better by any means.

I put the corner stakes through the loop on the rainfly, the tent loop, and the footprint loop. Stake all three with the same stake; worked well.

I got this tent as well and also thought it was unusual to set up. I ended up returning it but on the rainfly, did you just strap it onto the poles where the tent attaches to the poles?

Eh debatable. That's as thick as many ultra light tents. It is thin for it's weight, I agree. but should be durable enough with being careful. Many ultra lights are 20D.
