If there is wallpaper don't. Otherwise its easy to fill a few holes and and get a small amount of paint. Most paint places can match paint. At worst you'll have to repaint one wall.

You seem to be thinking of the "tilt" feature, which most do have. But the other guy is talking about a different feature where the tv pulls out about a foot, then lowers another foot(ish)

use plywood to mount to studs, then mount this to the wood to extend your reach. If worried about aesthetic, paint to match wall or mount, if really worried add some quarter round or shoe molding...
