Yup. The shelves are all adjustable to 3 different heights. When the middle shelf is set to the middle height the top shelf is 8 and 13/16. The bottom shelf is 8 and 5/16.

MDF used to be sandwiched between actual wood veneers. Like those Maple Plywood products which are really durable. But this is foil covered cardboard.
