ff7 remake is a small part of ff7 there doing it like telltale by episodes. Play ff7 original first then remake but expect to wait 5 or so years for all episodes out.

FFVIII (8) is pretty good too! And its a remaster. FFX/X2 Remaster would be a good one to pick up. Although most will tell you X is the one you want, X2 is meh.

Yeah, when I played FF6, I was maybe 10 or 11 (although I continued to play it for a few years) when it first came out. Back then, graphics were not so great and RPGs were pretty sandbox and linear....
