Man, I remember getting 2 74GB Raptors and set it to RAID 0. Snappiest setup you can get at that time.

So I was thinking about building a small unraid server, since you don’t want to use ssd in the main array this might work for a parity drive since you write to it all the time. what do you think?

This is one of those cases where I really wonder who, as a consumer, would still buy this. The only advantage mechanical drives have now is continuous writes. But then you wouldn't need a performance...
