The SK hynix was around this price and has DRAM. It might be worth waiting for something like that to come back to this price.

Resiliency isn't as much of a factor as speed. Drives with DRAM are faster than drives without. There's special use cases where DRAM could potentially extend the life of the drive, like running...

Loving the new Barracuda 120 SSD. Great durability, speed, and plays nice in our prosumer Poweredge boxes.

Yeah, the QVO drives seem perfectly fine thus far. They're pretty new but I haven't seen major reliability issues with any newer Samsung drive. DC = deal crap, sorry 😂

Doubting Cow? I’ve not heard of premature failures for any Samsung SSD, regardless of model. The QVO is supposed to be short for “quality-value optimized” so it’s meant to be a midpoint between a...

Its less resilient. For storing static files as a storage drive it matters less, but you wouldn't use this for an OS drive.

Don't mean to DC (take it or leave it), but as a data recovery professional, these drives have a nasty proclivity for failing instantly and reporting their model as SATAFIRM with no sector access...

How does this compare to the Samsung 980?
Post #140706821 added 09-27-2020 10:05 AM by jkilez in Deal Talk
Not necessarily. Some people would consider a great price to be a good thing. :D No DRAM means poorer performance (particularly with random writes) and a generally shorter SSD lifespan. They are...

Lot of data to lose. PNY has been the worst brand ssd I've used.

I think the term in the past has been TC (Thread Crap) DC has too many overlapping acronyms: datacenter, disconnect, data cap, etc

I feel like it should be noted in titles for deals on SSDs if they have DRAM or not, since it seems to be a very popular question
Post #140717156 added 09-27-2020 7:44 PM by masterz13 in Deal Talk
PNY sucks. If you value your data, get reputable brands like SanDisk or Crucial.

Pny should Covid-19 and disappear forever. I’ve never seen such a high failure rate from a particular brand. Even the usb drives stop being recognized after a short time. Pny Is probably a shell...

I very much like the WD Blue drives for the price actually. They're less expensive than the Samsung drives but they are SanDisk NAND flash (still very good quality) and they seem to have a good...

What does "DC" mean? And do you have any experience with premature Samsung 860 QVO 1TB drive failures? I ask as they're the cheapest 1TB drive Samsung alternative. Thanks!
