If you can’t screw the cans out from underneath, just pull the wire and patch up the holes. Leave the cans alone.

If you just want to replace your can lights, your electrical is already set up. Just a matter of twisting off the wire nuts attached to the old lights and twisting the wire nuts onto the new.
