If you want people to add you, you need to add your Nintendo friend code, found in your profile. Starts with "SW-" followed by numbers.

I spent countless hours playing N on addictinggames years ago. Some of the levels were so hard. I'll have to keep an eye out for when N++ goes on sale.

Yeah, it's a real bummer Nintendo doesn't let you buy digital games without already owning a Switch. It somewhat makes sense, but I was in the same boat as you last year ... wanted to buy cheap games...
