I had a 3TB that died just after it's warranty ran out. There was no warning. It started behaving badly. I started copying it's contents to another HDD. It died before I could get much off it.

Thats an interesting question. To use ssd you're going to need plenty of gold for your cold - they run around $100 per tb, versus 10 fir mechanical.

This is the best price for terabyte at the moment when planning to spend less than $100. Wal-Mart had a 2tb drive for $52 this week but it was at select stores and not available near my house.

A drive that I just back up all my data for long term storage. Not really being read/write too often. Main backup would be to my synology NAS and then just a duplicate on another drive (ssd or hdd)
