Get one or two trial sims ($5-$1) to check coverage . TMobile tends to be weaker in rural areas, I've read.

They just had a buy 3 month get 3 month deal via Best Buy with the 8GB plan for 60 bucks. I switched the in-laws from Ultra Mobile to Mint, (same company IIRC) couldn't have been easier. Much slicker...

I'd think that as long as T-Mobile is decent in your area, you should be fine with Mint Mobile. I've never had any problems with their service and generally have really good reception in northeast...
