Ordered this - weird open front box design left one side blotchy with unknown stains and scratches. Not sure why they designed the box that way but it explains the discounted price.

If you're out camping, I suppose. But for in your home, buy an electric kettle. So much more convenient. Turns itself off, so it doesn't have to be watched like a hawk. Exterior won't burn you either.

Totally agree! After buying a bunch of these, most are crap. Many of them can't even pour water out properly without dribbling hot water down the sides. I've yet to find one that is any good.

Yes, just a plain metal bottom. Handle is heat resistant nylon, but that won't impact its usage no matter what cooking heat source is under it.
