I am under the impression that KN95 is the standard. I do see what you mean...layer being a KN95 layer and another layer being an N95 layer... but it does not go into depth, perhaps N95 masks use...

That is the main difference.... N95 need to be around head (more tight) BUT KN95 can be around ears.
