You don’t need a fire tv to use your recast. I’m using mine with IOS and it works great. You only have to make sure you are in the same WiFi network.

Would anyone coming from a TIVO get disappointed using this DVR? This seems like a functional DVR lacking the bells and whistles.

yes, splitter if you plan on using ota directly with the tv and not just thru the recast.

It gives captions for programs my TVs don’t. Interesting. It does proper case too,not just upper case.

I’m using it and I’m very satisfied. Just make sure you are on the same WiFi network when watching your recast and it may affect the features available.

FYI - The 4 tuner model only has 2 transcoders, so you can only use 2 of the tuners to view live TV and the other 2 for recordings.

Got mine. But it requires my TV RF connector so I can’t use antenna on my TV. Any ideas ? Maybe use an RF splitter?
