The usb-c crack is what it is at this point. I charge my phone every overnight. Haven't had any battery heat issues. Can't say it doesn't exist, but if it is widespread, it will come out.

I always charge mine overnight too. I also charge it when I'm in my car going to work/home and running errands. Haven't had any battery heat issues or USB-C crack. I've had mine for a month now....
