Isn’t the whole point of hubs to relieve congestion on the router home network?

I used to wire things up to the ancient standard of x10 to those radio hubs and remotes. Much more difficult to configure, setup and then nobody used them. I dont like the hub ecosystem anymore as...

It’s links to the cloud service... similar to connecting Alexa voice or Arlo cams to ST.

That's not wholly correct. Pieces are, pieces aren't. Most home router wifi radios are not equipped for handling that kind of load. Wifi is a sort of hub-like architecture, meaning bandwidth is...

You don't need the hub to use with kasa. It's fine via the webservice and app. It's fabulous. I moved most of my Kasa schedules to the ST app and couldn't be happier.

Not at all. The average home router can handle 250 devices. Each switch or kasa plug gets 1 ip. It uses a tiny amount of data. On/off, dim set.

I have several Kasa devices including thus dual plug, two powerstrips, and one smart plug. All integrated well with Smart things, Google Home, and Alexa. The only thing that is not linked to Smart...

Kasa is always on sale. They manipulate slicksdeals and used paid thumbs up to promote their products. They are on sale probably 50 weeks out of the year. Maybe a little less

I heard Kasa supports Smartthings. Has anyone used any Kasa switch/dimmer products with Smartthings? Any feedback on how well the integration works? I am seeing conflicting reviews online.

Technically it is SmartThings that supports TP-Link products, but I digress. Integration with the classic SmartThings app was much better than with the new SmartThings app, but it is there. I have...

It does do that, but there are other consequences of hub-less. Devices that connect to WiFi without a hub have to talk to something, and that something is a server over the internet. If the internet...

Thanks! That's good to know. Does the Smartthings hub communicate with the Kasa devices through Kasa cloud services, or are you natively able to add Kasa switches to Smartthings (I assume not...

I really like kasa devices. They all work without a hub. So they just talk to the Wi-Fi router and set up super fast. Their app is very good too. Hubs are a thing of the past.

Excellent point. I know the Smartthings hub even has batteries so that if your local power goes out your settings are saved on the hub and can potentially still be used if power to the individual...

FYI- I read some of it's Amazon reviews. It says this thing doesn't work with Alexa, or google assistant. Not sure how true that is. I don't want it if it doesn't work with my google mini .

exactly. the more 3rd party devices you have on your wifi load the bigger chance you have of trouble. though i would trust tp-link more.
