The lights on the solar lights are quite bright. The problem I encounter in all my plastic solar lights are the sensor housing will crack in the California sun after 1-2 years.

I have 2 of these, using since 11mo, although the mount is cheap plastic, it did not break yet. Both are working great. And both of mine are open to the weather, not under any structure.

Consider yourself lucky, both units of mine had the plastic around the nuts that holding the unit to the metal brackets were shuttered within a week. Not 100% sure if it's due to weather very hot...
