FWIW in the Q&A section several people mention hooking this kit up to their 2.5" vacuum. It also looks like the HD1401 (14gal, 6hp, 2.5" hose) includes this kit without other adapters

Got this a few days ago, used it yesterday to vacuum out 2 of our cars. I have a craftsman wet dry vac with 2.5” hose, and this hose connected just fine. It seems worth the $20.

I don’t know why. I have it and the hose is very durable and tough. It’s much better than the quality of the stock hose they sell with ShopVacs these days.
