As far as I can tell, if I point a light onto the motion sensor area, the lights will turn off.

Here's how I mounted mine on a tuff shed. My drain hole is on the hinge side. Sounds like this Westinghouse unit has it near the hinge. Just make sure the hole is the lowest point.
