Just bought it with the extra 3-year square trade warranty for $25. Monoprice has a great dead pixel policy and square trade follows the manufacturer warranty for dead pixels.

You're lucky. My 34 inch Gigabyte died on me with 20 mins of use. I returned it to Best Buy. I got the Costco Acer instead now.

This is not correct. The response time details how quickly a pixel can change from one color/shade to another. If the new frame from the gpu changes that pixel's output, you'll add the response time...
