Sure, but you will be wasting a lot of coffee for one cup.... You are not providing enough water to even cover the coffee grounds in the large pod with filter. Three or four cups, this will work.

If it's similar to the one I had a few years ago, it almost cooks too fast and always burns at the bottom. If you have something fancy like a zojirushi you'll be greatly disappointed.
