You probably want something a lot more wind and water resistant..maybe hippohands or similar would be a better option.

This was my exact experience with Dakine gloves, haven't purchased since. Otherwise, warm and dry - but the quality of that material/stitching on the thumb ruined it.

Goretex is a laminate, it doesn't wear off. It can de-lam, if not treated well or certainly in much time it loses effectiveness, but it can't wear off.

Haha I was confused too. Lots of interesting comments here but it looks like there are several layers to the glove. The outer glove / shell is not water proof but water resistant but an inner liner...
