Not very, only an xray could tell between fat and muscle. Even the doctor's office is an approximation. Don't take too much stock in BMI.

again, none of these scales have handles if the current isn't going through your body and only your legs, the results are meaningless only the higher end scales like from withings have handles

I'm guessing at this price point, it just Calculates body fat and doesn't measure it. It would need more sensors in order to measure the body fat percentage.
