Well they aren't directly comparable. The model 12 was a 2 way (or 2.5 way) and the 40 is a 3 way (or 3.5). More drivers and more crossover drive up cost. But yes the latest series of Motions...

I feel the same. I think the only online retailer that makes speaker returns easy is Crutchfield. But sadly, their current sale price on the 60XTI is not as low as Best Buy and Amazon.

Personally, I'm a bit of a traditionalist and associate Martin Logan with electrostatic speakers. If that's your preference, There are electrostatic ones for $50 cheaper each. Link.

Great speakers. Sounds Transparent almost like an Electrostat. I have owned an ML Vista, Montage and Motion 4. However, you can get a ML electrostat for this price.

Can't say enuf about ML's clarity! I dont like their mesh speakers coz then u've to sit still at a spot to get the full benefit of it... but the Motion series... pure bliss.

Holy crap ML speakers have gotten expensive! I remember getting a pair of Motion 12s for around $600 not that long ago, now their equivalents (Motion 40i) are $1200 each.
