No it’s unlocked would work on any of the carriers. Also worth noting that even without cellular you do get GPS that you don’t on the wifi models.

Tax and the link you provided is for 128 gb and not cellular. This is 256 gb and cellular. Not much difference between the new and old models, benchmark is about the same.
