I own this monitor and am able to get 144hz over HDMI connected to a PC. To output 1080p 144hz you only need HDMI 1.4. Anything higher resolution then you need higher than HDMI 1.4

I am currently using this monitor with a MSI GE66 laptop. It is connected usb-c to display port with the respective cable. It works at 144hz at 1080p with no issues. Very happy with this monitor.

Do you have to disable freesync? Based on Reddit that has to be done on a few 1440p monitors which defeats the whole purpose. I imagine at 1080p that is not the case.
