If you buy a precut system you only need clamps and glue... other than that maybe a jigsaw or a wholesaw bit for a drill depending on the terminal you go with.

Time , you need an extra amp. it prolly saves you a few hundred, some people don't have time. DIY also needs more time tweak after. NOT COUNTING RESEARCH. These subs are decent for lots of people.
