Believe you can hook it up to NAS. I have 2 hooked up to Synology RTSP at the moment testing motion capture vs continous recording. FYI recording only 1080 on Synology even though this is 2k

Yes, it will work. Expect battery life to be short if you have lots of motion going on for your front door area or wherever you point the camera to.

I opted for this setup too, from what I have read, the camera should outlive the non replaceable LED and its controller. This LED mount is cheaper to replace than the whole set.
