This is 100% correct. Coming from someone with a Rift, used to have a vive and also owns both a quest and quest 2. Without question, right now the Quest 2 is the best under $1000 bang for your buck.

Everything works on virtual desktop. But that requires a good PC. Not everyone has a PC capable of running vr.

Absolutely incorrect. It works fine with Oculus. I just played it using my Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop and no issues.

Get an oculus quest 2. For $300 you get a pretty good (if barebone) wireless VR headset with inside out tracking. And you can connect it to your computer wirelessly by following instructions here...
