I haven't tried completely filling it up myself, but you are supposed to leave a bit of headroom so plants can form air roots and get proper oxygen. Of course, if you're doing DWC that doesn't matter...

Apparently the LED lights on these things only last about 3-5 years and they don't even sell replacement parts. So after the 1year warranty you will have a dead plastic bowl.

I found if you freeze those grow plugs 48 hrs no mold. Unfortunately it's in those usually if it shows up tho sometimes it's old (seeds)
