Use these in my network rack at work. They’re amazing for super clean aesthetics. One in about 40 end up being a dud for me, though.

Well, they work just fine, but sure.. let's go with "too thin"....

I’ve used them for years with no issues. Same issues as any other cables (thick cables). I’ve had big cables get sliced, cut, issues with connectors, etc. I use them any chance I get. I even...

Do not use this for POE - most POE devices run amperage higher than this wire gauge can safely take.
Post #144671002 added 01-15-2021 7:09 PM by BrightSink370 in Deal Talk
dangerous. don't use this cable for POE. CAT6a also has a spec of 22AWG so technically this is counterfeit cable.

Same. It's the shorter cables I care more about the thickness :( then again I just ordered some more 1' cables last week so I'd be upset if it was on sale.

Stupid question: Are Ethernet Patch cables ideal for connecting my home router / wifi to the ONT ? Or are Patch cables for something else. Asking because I have both Patch and non Patch

I use the 1’ mono price patch cables for my ONT -> switch connection ( to bypass AT&T router) and they work flawlessly for 2+ yes now)

What do you mean? Normal customers don't have network racks? More seriously, pretty much anything you would normally use an ethernet cable for, these are just really tiny so they can be hidden...

How so these compare to Vertical Cables? Or for an enterprise installation? Reliable enough?

5e cat cables are fine up to Gigabit internet. Anything over 5e is an overkill at the moment. These are too thin and overkill for most homeowners. Thicker is better. I would stay away from these...

It used to matter whether you use patch or cross-over cables, but now a day almost all ethernet ports are auto sensing. So, patch cables will work just fine if your home router and the ONT are...

Interested in doing the same. Have looked online but seems like it’s no longer doable. Can you point me to a decent guide?
Post #144676963 added 01-16-2021 6:16 AM by brianlovesmoney in Deal Talk
Definitely not possible. The ont is just converting from fiber to copper. All the authentication still has to take place on your router. Happy to be proven wrong but 99.99% sure on this

I've seen some saying these are too thin, but does that effect anything outside of durability? I have one long ethernet cable in my house, but the rest basically go between my modem and router or...

These are great as long as they are in a safe place. If there is any chance of an errant pinch, crush, or other detrimental effect, use caution. They break very easy. I managed to slice one of these...

Not specifically. In a general sense, heavier gauge cables allow for less voltage drop over longer distances. More copper means lower resistance. Lower resistance mess less voltage drop per distance...

Post #144686917 added 01-16-2021 2:12 PM by Horace in Deal Talk
The thinner conductors would affect durability and ability to handle the amperage needed for POE, but this would really only come in to play for longer runs. The lack of proper shielding could be an...

I like monoprice but 30 AWG is not Cat6A, period. Can it do gigabit ethernet? Can it do 10G ethernet? probably. but cat6a is a spec, and it literally does not meet that spec.
