Not encluding a RAM slot is planned obsolescence. It probably cost them pennies to have a slot vs not. But on the other hand, they know that no slot = quicker device upgrade.

Soldering the ram doesn't decrease the ram, and not everyone needs more than 8gb. Under $400 and you're in chromebook territory, which is significantly worse.

Received mine over the weekend. Loved the screen, not sure how much it covers rgb, but it looks rich and bright for my day to day use. Definitely not a compromise for average user. Speed is good...

Yep, this is a great WFH/distance learning/college laptop. The webcam is crappy, but that's about it for major downsides aside from the soldered RAM.
