Did you try the steps that I posted? They are just above your post. It worked for me even though the website stated that the deal was dead for the rear-handled model.

Circular or miter saw would be your best bets. Circular is fairly versatile and cheaper than a miter.

you can return just the batteries or just the saw to the store even though you ordered online. They will refund the portion. I have experienced in similar purchase from home depot.

A 4x4 is actually 3-1/2 x 3-1/2. So you would still need to turn and cut again based on it doing 2-5/8 cuts.
