Post #144799924 added 01-21-2021 6:54 AM by psyctto in Deal Talk
DVI-D on both ends obviously works fine at max data rate (dual link), that’s why it works with your setup, the same as the small secondary GPUs I added to my machines. I haven’t looked in a while,...

No. Works both ways

Should be fine if there's no interference. With digital, it basically works or doesn't (I/O).

Just want to verify, this will not work for HDMI source to a DVI monitor?
Post #144782128 added 01-20-2021 12:44 PM by Scurbdog in Deal Talk
Yes that's the main purpose.

You need an active cable to go beyond 1080p. Active cables require a power source.

Dvi D dual link can do 144hz at 1080p and 4k at 30hz so it's still relevant
Post #144786247 added 01-20-2021 3:25 PM by hz.lv in Deal Talk
It looks like a DVI-D dual link connector, should support a resolution up to 2560x1600. Why this one says only up to 1080p?

DVI interfere is pin to pin compatible to hdmi 1.4, that include audio channels. If your hdmi/dvi support audio, the cable support audio. Most people just didn't know you can pass audio via dvi the...

30 AWG is very thin. You can get those cable for $4 off eBay any day, less if you go for a shorter cable. If your space permits, a DVI-D to HDMI (female) adapter is often the way to go, since you can...

Not really. And even if that were the case, you can buy these all day long for $2-3 if you're willing to wait on shipping.

$4.20 with tax for lucky me :P I actually bought a monitor with VGA and DVI only for WFH COVID new from staples this past summer so I guess DVI still has its place in some hardware.

Why do you keep posting about a gender bender? The DVI connector is male. All video cards and monitors with DVI have female connectors. If you use a gender bender you won't be able to plug it in your...

This is a passive adapter, so 1080 is the top end data rate. Active adapters will be higher, but they’re all over the place and most suck. I have issues with active adapters on my 30’’ 1600 Dell at...

This will work in both directions for computer use. HDMI and DVI are almost the same. HDMI has more features such as audio, HDCP, YCbCr color spaces, but you should be okay
