Does the sub out mean that all audio played always has a low pass crossover applied? Or is this switchable? If it’s the former, that would explain the reviews that say this lacks bass thump

Ya, definitely no sub included, but if its anything like the BestBuy model, it does have a subwoofer output; meaning if you can connect an active powered subwoofer to it for improved sound.

None of the pictures show a separate sub, and it's listed as 2.0 instead of 2.1. I highly doubt a separate subwoofer is included.
