The off brand lithium batteries on amazon for the one+ system work just as well as the Ryobi branded ones and are a heckuva lot cheaper.

I'm still not sure what the difference between HP and standard is except they claim more power output. These batteries are not HP. Not sure I'd care though since most of my tools probably aren't HP...

First, not all Ryobi brushless tools have the two extra contact pins for the HP battery. Like DeWalt Flexvolt ready tools, you do not get any better 'at point' performance until above 6amps.... but...

The new 4AH batteries are on sale too. $80 for a pair. I agree it's worth buying new batteries just for the 3 year warranty. Especially at just $11.50 more per battery.
