Then if your going to spend retail price you should get any of the 30 series desktop cards. Even if you get a laptop and it's an older laptop you can use it as an egpu.

It is pretty efficient for the rate since it's a lower wattage gpu, but you'd get better bang for your buck getting a desktop gpu, even with the inflated prices. Assuming you have a PC to toss it...
