True. But it's a matter of personal preference. My preference is to use scrap cutoffs as sacrificial push sticks. Bonus is they're free. It's not for everyone though.

Not not a MUST have by any means. It doesn't enable you to do tasks you couldn't otherwise do without it. But it does help make certain table saw cuts without a blade guard safer.
