it's 2.5gbit not 1gbit, hence the price. Cat5e is capable of 5gbit, you don't really need *new* cabling for it to work.

I'm sure this is a niche product bc $30 for usb ethernet seem steep. But if you've invested into newest routers/switches/cabling I imagine it's worth it to you. for people buying, what's your use...
